2003 Grand Prize Winner in ASPCA's Pet Protector Award Contest

GLPA was nationally recognized in 2003 by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, who bestowed upon the group the Grand Prize in the 2003 Pet Protector Award Contest. This is an annual contest that recognizes innovative groups and programs around the country that are working to end animal cruelty. GLPA is deeply honored to have received the distinction of Grand Prize Winner among the 120 applicants from around the United States.

On April 1, 2004, Anne Marie Lucas, the star of the show Animal Precinct on The Animal Planet, flew from New York to Atlanta to present a check to the group. In the photo above, Treasurer James C. West accepts the prize money of $10,000, which GLPA used to further their anti-cruelty campaigns.

GLPA and Ms. Lucas were also featured that morning on WSB-TV's "Good Day Atlanta" morning program, and presented an anti-cruelty program to elementary aged children at a local school.
